CASA hosts ink event

TIFFIN — CASA of Seneca, Sandusky, and Wyandot Counties held its inaugural "Ink for Impact" event recently, utilizing a partnership with local artists to raise awareness for its volunteer advocacy program. The event featured tattoos and permanent jewelry provided by Xo, Lu and Soul Sisters Handmade. According to organizers, the primary objective was to establish a creative environment where community members could learn about the role of court-appointed special advocates for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. During the event, 15 participants received a total of 20 tattoos and 10 attendees received permanent jewelry. The initiative raised $300 to support CASA's ongoing work in the tri-county area. Abby Needles, Tri County Assistant for CASA of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties, noted that the unconventional format helped facilitate dialogue with the public. "We were thrilled with the turnout and the conversations that happened throughout the event," Needles said. "Events like Ink for Impact allow us to connect with people in a creative and welcoming way while sharing how they can make a difference in a child's life." Demand for the services exceeded the event's scheduled timeframe, resulting in seven additional attendees prepaying for nine tattoos to be completed at later dates. CASA officials stated that due to the level of community engagement, they intend to hold the event again next year with plans for expansion. The organization's core mission involves recruiting and training community members to serve as Guardians ad Litem. These volunteers are tasked with ensuring the needs of vulnerable children are represented during court proceedings.
