Sutherland fuels Redmen

OAK HARBOR — Blake Sutherland turned in a clutch hitting performance from the No. 9 spot and picked up the win in relief Friday as Bellevue dropped Oak Harbor 6-2 in eighth innings.Sutherland went 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for the Redmen, who wound up with five doubles among their 12 hits.Ike Brown drove in two runs, doubled and singled, Sam Cooper and Cooper Winke each doubled, scored and knocked in a run, and Caden Lindsey doubled and scored.Bellevue took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but the Rockets knotted the game in the fifth. Each team scored once in the seventh before the Redmen pounded out four runs in the top of the eighth.Winke started and fanned seven over four scoreless innings for Bellevue. Raiders knock back EaglesTOLEDO — Hunter Sweeney kept Toledo Christian's batters in check and Jacob Hines drove in a pair of runs Friday to spark Lakota's 7-2 win.Sweeney struck out nine and scattered three hits, three walks and one earned run over 4 2/3 innings to get the win for the Raiders.Hines singled twice, and Sweeney helped his own cause with a run and RBI.A.J. Chieftains break into win columnJacoby Ellis drove in two runs and Brody Brickman and Jack Colatruglio each singled in a run Friday to propel Hopewell-Loudon past Sequatchie Valley 4-1 in a game played in Tennessee.The Indians struck first, with Colton Cribbs doubling in a run in the top of the first inning for Sequatchie Valley's lone run.The Chieftains answered with Brickman's RBI single in the bottom of the frame to tie the game, and Colatruglio followed with his RBI single in the second for the lead in what became H-L's first win of the year.Ellis ended 2 for 3 to go with his two runs batted in to help Austin Smith get the win.Smith fanned four and didn't walk anyone while scattering seven hits in six innings of work.Dillon Frizzell took the loss for the Indians.Joe Simmons and Cribbs both ended with two hits for Sequatchie Valley.
