Blue Devils can't catch Monroeville

CAREY — Monroeville took advantage of three errors to forge a lead, then held off Carey late Friday in a 6-4 win.Carey led 1-0 after the first inning, but the Eagles countered with two runs in the top of the third and two in the fourth for a 4-1 advantage.Each team scored once in their next at-bat after that, with Monroeville tacking on another run in the sixth to make it 6-2.The Blue Devils plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but could get no closer.Taylor Scheid went the distance to get the win for the Eagles. She also singled and scored.Payton Weilnau went 3 for 4 with a triple and three runs, Alayna Tyler drove in two runs and doubled, McKenna Payton doubled, Genna Bragg had a single, run and RBI, Madison Reiber singled and scored, and Brooke Morman and Lilly Clark each singled.Losing pitcher Tylinn Stoll drove in three runs, doubled and singled for Carey.Autumn Bouillon singled twice and scored, Trinity Reinhart had a single and RBI, and Karlie Niederkohr, Bayah Harsanje and Ashley Hohman all scored.
