Man in traffic jam had to use restroom, hit by passing car

SANDUSKY — If ever there was a time when a porta-potty would have come in handy, it was Saturday in the midst of the massive traffic jam in the city. But a Michigan man who didn't have one was injured when he hopped out of the vehicle he was in to relieve himself. The incident happened on the Cedar Point Causeway at about 3:05 p.m., according to a Sandusky police crash report.The 28-year-old man exited his vehicle, which was headed toward the park but stopped in traffic, because he needed to "go to the bathroom," the report states. he was crossing the lane of oncoming traffic to get to the west side of the causeway when he was struck by a passing Dodge.Sandusky Fire EMTs and off-duty medical personnel found the man with a head wound and began treatment, according to the report. He was conscious and talking with medical personnel and was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center before being transferred to a Toledo hospital.The Dodge driver said the man "darted out" in front of her and she couldn't brake in time, the report states. Police did not charge the Dodge driver because it occurred on private property. The same afternoon, Cedar Point shut down roads leading to the park due to the park nearing its capacity.
