Bame steps downs as Blue Devils coach

CAREY-There will be a new head coach next season for the boys basketball team. According to a press release from Carey Exempted Village Schools, coach Zack Bame has officially stepped down as the head boys basketball coach. "Coach Bame cited changes in his workplace responsibilities and his desire to dedicate more time with his family as his reasons for his decision." Bame, who has been at the helm the last two seasons for the Blue Devils has a record of 20-25. He has been in various coaching positions over the last 20 years throughout high school sports and within the community. "We appreciate the time and energy that Coach Bame has given to our boys' basketball program and to the Blue Devil athletic family," Superintendent Michael Wank said. "We understand his decision to step down, as unfortunately basketball and all high school athletic programs have gone from season sports to year-round activities. We wish him and his family all the best in the years ahead." The position will be posted, along with an application to apply soon on the website as athletic director Eric Vickert will begin the search in the coming week for a new boys basketball coach. "The district extends its sincere appreciation to Coach Bame for his years of service and commitment to developing student-athletes at Carey High School."
