Faber, No. 4 Senecas fend off Stockaders

Old Fort came ready to play and gave No. 4 Calvert all it wanted early, but the unbeaten Senecas came away with another win – this time 6-2 – over the rival Stockaders in SBC River play.Calvert (10-0, 2-0 SBC River) led just 3-2 through three innings.Scarlett Faber paced the Calvert offense with a triple, a double, a single and an RBI, while Ava Eilrich singled and drove in a pair of runs, Grace Wood and Sofia Lee each singled and drove in a run and Kate Coleman lined a triple.Abbi Ward (RBI), Autumn Skeels and Mylee Sebetto all doubled for the Stockaders (4-5, 1-2).Eilrich went all seven innings in the circle, allowing two unearned runs on six hits with 12 punchouts and no walks on 88 pitches. She bested Stevie Baker, who took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits in three innings of work. Velasquez's walk-off HR seals win for H-LBASCOM – Amazingly, Hopewell-Loudon overcame a 7-0 deficit after three innings and 11 errors in the field to come back to clip Lakota 11-10 on a two-run walk-off blast from Araceli Velasquez in the bottom of the seventh.H-L (4-7, 2-2 SBC River) smacked 15 hits as Aubrey Cline (3B, 2 RBI) and Velasquez (HR, 2B, 2 RBI) both tallied two hits, A England (2 RBI), M Lust (HR, 2 RBI) and R Clagg all added two hits, Mallory Rowe doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Madison Holcomb finished with a single and an RBI.Emma Jurovcik singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for the Raiders (3-4, 2-2), followed by Lexi Moon with a pair of singles and an RBI, Jerzee Crawford singled and drove in two, Chevelle Rubel singled and drove in a run, Sophia Bomer had two RBIs and B Keeran ended with an RBI.Clagg got the win in the circle for H-L.
