Beisner earns two of Old Fort's three wins at Edison Invite

MILAN — Henry Beisner won two individual events and Old Fort claimed a relay Saturday at the Edison Invitational.Old Fort's boys were fifth and the girls ended sixth.Huron bested Norwalk for the team titles in each half of the meet. The Tigers beat the Truckers 111 1/2-80 for the boys crown, and 134 1/2-92 1/2 for the girls championship.The Stockaders scored 67 points in the boys meet and 52 points in the girls meet.Beisner claimed the 110 hurdles (15.91) and high jump (6-0) for Old Fort's boys.Aiden Dick, Brayden Davis, Isaac Gallagher and Aidan Chapman won the 4x400 (3:33.6) for the Stockaders.The boys 4x1 (45.19) team of Davis, Gallagher, Dick and Chapman was fifth, while the 4x8 (9:21.71) squad of Grant Miller, Dalton Hessick, Colten Hoerig and Collin Patrick ran seventh.Chapman added a second in the 400 (51.37) and a fifth in the 200 (23.69) for Old Fort.Gallagher also took second in the long jump (18-6).Fourths for the Stockaders went to Grant Miller in the 1,600 (5:04.17) and Dick in the 400 (53.5).Hessick ran eighth in the 1,600 (5:10.7).In the girls meet, runner-up finishes for Old Fort came from Adelyn Dick in the 100 hurdles (17.78) and Ally Quaintance in the discus (109-3 1/2).Grace Tackett added a third in the 1,600 (5:52.36) and a fourth in the 3,200 (13:14.27).Emma Pump ran third in the 400 (1:01.24) for Old Fort.Carly Fortney took fourth in the 800 (2:30.17).Quaintance ended fifth in the shot (31-3).The girls had two fourth-place finishes in relays, including the 4x2 (1:51.57) team of Fortney, Dick, Kailey Haugh and Pump and the 4x4 (4:21.60) squad of Pump, Dick, Haugh and Fortney. Tigers upend record-setting Blue DevilsNEW WASHINGTON — Lincoln Ritter set two of Carey's six meet records, but Seneca East used depth to power past the Blue Devils 143 1/2-127 Friday for the Buckeye Central Stache Dash boys crown.Calvert took fourth with 71 points, and Buckeye Central nosed out Mohawk 33-29 for sixth in the 10-team field.Ethan Shultz claimed one of Seneca East's four victories, sailing 21-1 1/4 to set a meet record in the long jump. Area girls set records at Stache DashNEW WASHINGTON — Carey and Calvert each set a pair of meet records Friday in the girls portion of the Buckeye Central Stache Dash.Elysa Holsinger of Carey trimmed nearly two seconds off the 300 hurdles record, winning in 47.2 seconds. Upper Scioto Valley's Megan Carey set the previous mark of 49.15 seconds in 2017.Carey also lowered the mark in the 4x400 with a winning time of 4:16.55. The previous record of 4:18.21 was held by both Carey and Mohawk, with the most recent running of that time coming in 2018.Meet officials did not provide names of individuals competing in relays.Meanwhile, Calvert's Emily Miller set two meet records on her own by winning the 400 in 57.96 seconds and the 200 in 26.53 seconds.Carey's Addystin Lykins set the previous record of 1:00.67 in the 400 in 2019, while Calvert's Leah Smith set the previous record of 26.58 seconds in the 200 in 2021.Willard held off Port Clinton 131-127 for the team title. Brickner fuels runner-up ChieftainsLAKESIDE — Lily Brickner figured in three wins and led off a runner-up relay Friday to propel Hopewell-Loudon's girls to second at the Danbury Brad Bauer Memorial Invitational.Danbury beat the Chieftains 692-524 for the title, with New Riegel taking third (356) in the six-team meet.Brickner fueled the runner-up Chieftains by winning the 400 (1:04.41) and long jump (15-9 1/4), running on the winning 4x100 team (54.12) and helping H-L take second in the 4x400 (4:42.51).Arianna Smith, Grace Hintze and Savanna Cook joined her on the 4x100.
