Tiffin Glass hires museum coordinator

Here's the edited version: TIFFIN — The Tiffin Glass Museum & Shoppe has named LaVonne Dawson as its museum coordinator, marking the first time in more than a decade the organization has had a dedicated staff member in the role. Dawson, who began the position in early March, is the museum's first paid staff member and will support operations, outreach and programming. An avid collector of glass and other items for more than 20 years, Dawson brings familiarity with collector markets to the role. She plans to focus on increasing the museum's visibility, expanding sales efforts and attracting more visitors. "There are a lot of people who don't know we're here or don't realize the history and value of Tiffin glass. I want to change that by increasing awareness and bringing more people into the museum and shop," Dawson said. To that end, she is building an online presence through Facebook and other platforms, connecting with collector groups and encouraging regional visitation to establish the shop as a destination for vintage and collectible glass. The Tiffin Glass Museum & Shoppe is located at 25-27 S. Washington St. in downtown Tiffin. The museum honors the heritage of Tiffin's "Glass House" and its workers, featuring more than 1,000 pieces of Tiffin glass. It operates with the support of 10 volunteers.
