Drone delivers lunch at TU

Tiffin University's Dragon Flight Fellowship recently completed its first successful drone lunch delivery on campus, with a meal prepared by Wall St. Pub and Grille delivered to Provost and Chief Operating Officer Peter J. Holbrook. Students in the fellowship executed the flight, demonstrating their hands-on training and technical expertise. Following the test, program coordinators and the fellowship are in discussions with Wall St. Pub and Grille about expanding the service. The proposed expansion would bring drone food delivery to campus dormitories during select evenings this fall. Ryan Gillmor, assistant director of the Drone Academy, said the delivery reflects the university's commitment to applied learning. "This successful drone delivery represents more than a milestone — it showcases how emerging technologies can be applied to real-world challenges," Gillmor said. "By integrating innovation, hands-on learning and practical application, these students are not only advancing their own skill sets but also helping define the future of unmanned systems." The fellowship and restaurant plan to continue testing throughout the summer, with the goal of launching drone food delivery campuswide in the fall.
