BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon had its struggles.Port Clinton led 5-1 by the end of the second inning and H-L ended up committing six errors.But the Chieftains regrouped Saturday, got a solid effort from Araceli Velasquez in the circle and at the plate, and pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to eke out an 8-7 victory.The Redskins had the early momentum with their 5-1 lead, but H-L countered with four runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game and both teams scored twice in the fourth to keep things deadlocked.Velasquez paced the Chieftains by striking out 10 and allowing just three hits with no walks and no earned runs. Huron knocks back TCHURON — Huron used a four-run burst to take the lead in the third inning Saturday en route to beating Columbian 7-3.Columbian jumped out 2-0 in the top of the first, but the Tigers got one back in the second before their third inning put them up 5-2.Huron added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings, while TC scored its other run in the fifth.Three Columbian pitchers combined to allow just two hits, but they also combined to give up seven walks.Allison Hillman singled and scored two runs for Huron (9-6), Kyleigh Gillman singled, Lucy Hinners and Adelyn VanSickle both scored twice and Reece Hotz knocked in two runs.Madison Holeman went the distance for the win.Maizie Mellott suffered the loss for the Tornadoes (1-15).
