Donald A. Lytle

Donald A. Lytle, 87, most recently of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, but a lifelong Tiffin resident, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Villa St. Vincent extended care center in Crookston, Minnesota. Don was born April 22, 1930, in Cleveland, to George W. and Catherine H. (Turner) Lytle. Surviving are a daughter, Colleen Lytle of Seattle, Washington; a son, Jeffrey (Kristi) Lytle of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard. When Don was a young teenager, his family moved to Tiffin and he resided there until March 2017, when he moved to Minnesota to be closer to family. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on active duty until being honorably discharged in 1954. Don was a draftsman by rating and served aboard the USS Yellowstone (AD-27). It was with great joy that Don spoke of his Naval service and he was quite proud to be a veteran. After leaving the Navy, Don worked in the engineering field his entire life. Over the years he was employed for a number of different companies and ended his career retiring in 1990 from Hancor Inc., Findlay, as director of engineering development. Don often told his family that he enjoyed designing machinery and engineering to such a degree it was like he never had to work because he loved what he did so much. Don has several U.S. patents listed under his name for machinery he designed during his career. Don was accomplished at many recreational activities, including pool, golf, painting, woodworking and trapshooting. It was Don's wish to be cremated and to have no funeral or visitation.
